Deeper Still
Featuring Guitarist Cyrus Pace

This new project is different than past Lenny Marcus Trio
CD’s in that, although there is still an obvious jazz influence here, there is a more meditative and contemplative feel to it; there is much feeling in Marcus’s compositions, complimented by the beautiful guitar work of Cyrus Pace and the lyrical acoustic bass playing of Scott Trayer, with Larry Scott adding subtle textures on the drums. The CD is almost all original works by Marcus, save for three tracks; Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue; an interpretation of Alvin Batiste’s piece called, “Little Star,” and then a fun rendition of My Fair Lady’s “Wouldn’t it be Loverly?” to round off the CD.

Marcus states, “I feel like this CD is a combination of so many things, from my training with jazz piano and flute, to my developments in yoga and Zen Buddhist meditation, to working in the mental health field with war veterans, to even working in the garden! In fact, Marcus says that three songs seem to come right out of his garden, “Purple Moon, Sentimental Blue, and Music in the Garden.” On some of the other compositions, “Deeper, Still” and “Inner Journey” were written after long deep meditations, as was “Meditations in Time.”
